Arsenal target Cristian Pavon to stay at Boca Juniors

Premier League side Arsenal have been dealt a blow after sources close to transfer target Cristian Pavon revealed that he will not be leaving Boca Juniors this summer, according to a report on the Independent.

Pavon was being strongly linked with a move to the Emirates this summer but he has reportedly come to the decision to remain in Argentina.

However, the player and his club have not ruled out a move to England in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old was being monitored closely by Arsenal and Serie A side AS Roma throughout the summer, where he was one of the bright sparks for Argentina at the World Cup.

The player’s representatives are confident that he will not be leaving Boca Juniors as the side look to win the Copa Libertadores for the first time since 2007.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is likely to continue scouting the winger and could test Boca’s resolve with a bid in the winter transfer window.

Roma have not given up their pursuit of Pavon but at the moment, he seems happy and settled at Boca.
