Arsenal monitoring Jean-Philippe Gbamin

Arsenal are monitoring Mainz defender Jean-Philippe Gbamin and have been in contact with the player, according to RMC as quoted by Get French Football News.

The new rules on the transfer window mean that the English window will this summer shut on August 9 ahead of the new Premier League season.

Get French Football News saw that French media outlet RMC are reporting that a bid has been made for Gbamin by an English club. However this club is not believed to be the Gunners.

The unknown side have tabled a whopping €35m bid for the Mainz defender, but the German side are not wanting to sell.

Mainz are not believed to have directly responded to the offer that has been tabled, with the 22-year-old remaining much sought-after this summer.

Arsenal are still keen to add to their squad, despite having already made five summer signings, and could look to propose a formal bid for Gbamin in the coming days.
