Arsenal have missed out on the chance to sign Max Meyer this summer, with the German international set to sign for Crystal Palace.
The Guardian reports that the German has held ‘positive talks’ over a move to Selhurst Park after leaving Schalke.
The player has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, while Marseille were also thought to be in the running.
Meyer is due to have a medical at Palace on Tuesday and is set to become the second free agent to join the club this summer after Vicente Guaita joined from Getafe.

There had been some concerns over the player’s wage concerns, which is why Arsenal reportedly turned down the chance to sign the German international.
Meyer could be a key figure in a new-look Palace midfield, with Roy Hodgson’s side plotting moves for West Ham’s Cheikhou Kouyate.
The German fell out of favour at Schalke towards the end of last season after falling out with club officials.
