Arsenal manager Unai Emery has delivered a positive update over Alex Iwobi’s contract negotiations with the club.
The Gunners are deep in talks with the Nigerian international as they look to pin him down to a new and improved deal in North London, amid speculation that he could seek pastures new.
Iwobi appears to be a big part of Emery’s plans at the Emirates and is sure to feature regularly next season, given that he is one of the club’s few, natural wide players in the first-team.

As quoted by Goal, new Gunners boss Emery spoke out about Iwobi’s current contractual situation and insisted that the final details are simply being ironed out between all parties.
I have the information – he’s near. First, I want to work with every player, and they are coming. Mesut [Ozil], Iwobi, [Mohamed] Elneny are starting to work with us, the first week is very good. My information is he is going to sign and continue with us.
Iwobi’s current deal at Arsenal runs until the summer of 2020 but the Gunners are evidently keen to reward the versatile attacker with a new deal after being left impressed by his progress in recent times.
