# Chelsea turn down the chance to sign midfielder wanted by Arsenal and Tottenham

Chelsea have reportedly rejected the opportunity to sign Arsenal and Tottenham target Andre Gomes, as part of a deal to take Willian to Barcelona.

[Mundo Deportivo reports](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20180724/451091408172/malcom-chelse-willian-barcelona-burdeos-roma.html) that Barcelona were forced to turn their attention to Malcom when it became clear that Chelsea were not interested in selling the winger.

The La Liga champions tabled a cash offer which included Gomes, with the Catalan side looking to offload the player this summer.

Barcelona hit the headlines when they hijacked a move for Malcom at the last minute, with the player appearing set to join Roma.

Both Arsenal and Spurs have also been heavily linked with a move for the Portuguese midfielder.

Unai Emery is a known admirer of the player, but doubts have been cast about a potential move to the Emirates.

Tottenham had previously been [named as the player’s most likely destination](https://readarsenal.com/2018/07/20/tottenham-the-most-likely-destination-for-arsenal-target/) after falling out of favour at the Nou Camp.
