# Arsenal star makes huge decision over his international career

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has confirmed that he will no longer be available for selection for the German national team.

Ozil came in for plenty of criticism throughout this summer’s World Cup and it seems he has been prompted to take the decision to call time on his international career.

Germany, who headed into the World Cup as the reigning champions, endured a difficult campaign. They won only one game in the group stages and crashed out at the first hurdle after succumbing to defeats against Mexico and South Korea.

Ozil proved to be rather ineffective throughout the tournament and was maligned by large sections of the country’s supporter-base.

As a consequence of this, he has made the bold call to retire from international football at senior level at the age of just 29-years-old.
