# Arsenal open talks over move for Portuguese international

Arsenal have opened talks with Barcelona over a loan deal for midfielder Andre Gomes this summer.

[According to Football London](https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/transfer-news/latest-arsenal-news-cech-live-14859412), Arsenal are looking into a move to bring Gomes to the club on loan.

Gomes has struggled to nail down a regular place at Barcelona since his move to the club from Valencia in 2016.

The midfielder has made 78 appearances in two seasons for Barcelona in all competitions, scoring three times.

However, he only made 16 La Liga appearances last season, leading to speculation over his future in Spain.

The report claims that Arsenal are not willing to match Barcelona’s valuation of Gomes, which stands at £26m, leading to talks over a loan deal.

Arsenal are looking to bolster their midfield ranks and see Gomes as the man to improve their options in the middle of the park.
