Arsenal forward on the verge of penning new deal
Arsenal attacker Alex Iwobi is reportedly close to committing his long-term future to the club.
According to claims from the Mirror, the Nigerian wide man is set to put pen to paper on a new deal at the Emirates, as he looks to make an impression under Unai Emery.
Iwobi has been heavily linked with a move away from North London this summer, with Lazio understood to have identified him as a potential replacement for Felipe Anderson, who sealed a £42m switch to West Ham earlier in July.
It’s reported by the Mirror that Iwobi has already agreed to new terms with Arsenal, with contractual negotiations progressing in recent months.
The 22-year-old struggled to develop consistency under Arsene Wenger throughout the course of last season but will be hoping to nail down a place in Emery’s starting line-up.
Iwobi’s current contract runs until the summer of 2020, but the Gunners are clearly keen to fend off interest by tying him down to a new deal.
