Arsenal open talks with World Cup finalist

Arsenal have been linked with a potential switch with Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, with the Gunners reportedly opening talks with the midfielder according to the Independent.

N’Zonzi is preparing for the biggest game of his career, with France set to take on Croatia in the World Cup final.

The midfielder has impressed many since leaving Stoke City in 2015. The Frenchman has revitalised his career since joining Sevilla, where under new Arsenal boss Unai Emery, the Spanish side beat Liverpool to lift the Europa League in 2016.

Despite the Gunners’ acquisition of Lorient midfielder Matteo Guendouzi this week, Emery is set on improving his midfield with more signings.

The midfielder reportedly opened talks with the Gunners this weekend, with Unai Emery hoping for a reunion for the player he signed for Sevilla back in 2015.

N’Zonzi’s first spell in England began in 2009, when the Frenchman was signed by Blackburn Rovers. The midfielder would go on to make 86 appearances for Rovers, before moving to Stoke when Blackburn were relegated to the Championship in 2012.
