# Emery hopes to turn Özil’s Arsenal career around

Unai Emery hopes his “new way” will allow Mesut Özil to once again be an important player for Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger was unable to solve the Chinese puzzle box that is Germany international Òzil, and Emery will hope he can get consistently high level performances from the 29-year old.

Özil has frequently been the scapegoat for Arsenal’s failures, with fans pointing to the playmaker’s constant lack of effort and negative demeanour as contributing factors to his poor performances.

But Emery hopes he can turn the former Real Madrid man’s career with the Gunners around.

As quoted by [Mirror Sport](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/unai-emery-makes-mesut-ozil-12914063), Emery said:

> We are here to help every player. For me it’s the same for one player as it is for 25 players.

> For us Mesut is a very important player we want to help him to be well, fine with us.

> Last year was a difficult year for all, not only for Mesut. They finished sixth in the Premier League – not the position we want.

> Because of that, it’s a new way.

> The national team didn’t get the results they want but today he is on holiday and I want him to relax good and I want, when he comes back with us, to start with a good mentality, start hard.

> I want to work with him with a new way and with an ambition to continue with this quality \[he has\] and help with this quality, \[also\] getting better with the team.
