Barcelona join Arsenal in the race to sign Argentina international
Arsenal will face competition from Barcelona in the race to sign Cristian Pavon from Boca Juniors, according to reports.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Argentina international but it seems they will face stiff competition from Ernesto Valverde’s men.
Pavon was a part of Argentina’s World Cup squad but failed to make a lasting impact as the team bowed out of the tournament at the round of 16 stage.
The promising wide man, according to claims from Marca (via Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre), has been offered a lucrative contract offer from Barcelona and could be convinced to depart from Boca Juniors this summer.
However, the club are understood to be determined to keep hold of one of their prized assets, as interest from all across Europe continues to develop.
Arsenal have not yet made a concrete offer to sign the versatile attacker from Boca, but they may be forced to accelerate their pursuit of the player if Barcelona have indeed swooped.
