# Arsenal defender subject to interest from La Liga

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal is a target for La Liga side Real Sociedad, according to a report from [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/real-sociedad-per-la-fascia-si-pesca-in-casa-arsenal-95842).

The experienced Spaniard is being heavily linked with a move away from North London this summer as Unai Emery continues to revamp his squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Monreal was one of Arsenal’s more impressive performers throughout last season but with the versatile defender now 32-years-old, it seems the Gunners could consider selling him.

Real Sociedad, following the recent sale of Alvaro Odriozola to Real Madrid, are out to add depth to their full-back options and it’s believed that Monreal has been identified as a target.

Monreal is something of a fans’ favourite at the Emirates and was utilised often by Arsene Wenger during his stint at the club, operating in every position across the back four.

Whether Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for Monreal remains to be seen, but a return to his homeland of Spain could be of interest to the player.
