Mesut Özil has revealed his delight at being handed the number ten shirt at Arsenal.
The midfielder had worn the number eleven jersey in North London, but takes the number ten after the departure of Jack Wilshere to free agency.

Following in the footsteps of Arsenal legends such as Dennis Bergkamp, Robin Van Persie, and Paul Merson, Özil is just happy to be pulling on the famed shirt:
It has never been a secret how special this number is to me,
My childhood idol Zinedine Zidane wore this number and it is still the most characteristic one for the play-maker position.
Having worn #10 at Real Madrid, the 29-year-old also wears the number on international duty with Germany.
I’m looking forward to putting it on for the first time at Arsenal after the summer break.
Özil was unable to progress to the knockout stages of the World Cup with Germany, and will be looking to the new Premier League season to silence his naysayers.
