Arsenal will turn down the opportunity to sign Max Meyer on a free transfer this summer because they believe the player’s wage demands are too high.
According to Get German Football News, the former Liverpool and Arsenal target is now in talks to sign for Marseille after falling out of favour at Schalke.
Meyer was widely expected to leave the Bundesliga after a reported fall-out with manager Domenico Tedesco.

The report claims that there was also interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid in Spain and fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, but the player now looks set for a move to France.
The German international enjoyed a strong season at Schalke, with Tedesco bringing the best out of the player in a deeper midfield position, but relationships at the club have soured.
Meyer has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and speculation continued when it became known that he would be available on a free transfer, but Liverpool and Arsenal appeared to have now ended their interest in a deal.
