Sampdoria have confirmed that Lucas Torreira has left the club for a fee of €30m.
The owner of Sampdoria, Massimo Ferrero, has confirmed that Torreira has completed a move elsewhere.
Arsenal is expected to be his destination, after reports claiming that Arsenal had agreed a deal for the midfielder.
Torreira is currently on international duty with Uruguay at the World Cup in Russia, and will likely complete his move after the tournament.
As quoted by Calcio Mercato, Ferrero said this:
Torreira’s gone for €30m.
I bought him from Pescara when no-one believed in him. We gambled on him and won, paying just €3m for him.
Torreira was a star for Sampdoria in the Serie A last season and was named in the Team of the Season.
The holding midfielder looks set to become Arsenal’s third signing of the summer, joining Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno;
