Arsenal welcome City on the opening day

Unai Emery will face the toughest of tests during his first Premier League game as Arsenal manager, welcoming the defending champions.

The club confirmed that Pep Guardiola’s side travel to the Emirates on the opening day before the Gunners make the short journey to Stamford Bridge for their second game of the season.

Starts don’t get much harder for Emery, who will be keen to hit the ground running in his new job.

The run-in does get slightly more favourable for Emery, who will be pleased with the club’s Christmas schedule.

The Gunners face Burnley, Brighton and Liverpool during the final stages of the festive period.

Emery will be delighted with the end-of-season run-in with the Gunners set to face Watford, Palace, Leicester, Brighton and Burnley in their last five games of the campaign.

As with every year, fixtures and kick-off times are all subject to change as and when the relevant games are chosen for broadcasting.
