Arsenal are progressing in their negotiations to sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria this summer, according to claims from Italian news outlet Di Marzio.
The Gunners have a clear interest in signing Torreira this summer, with new boss Unai Emery keen to add more quality to his pool of midfielders ahead of next season.
Torreira was a target for Napoli but it seems Arsenal are leading Carlo Ancelotti’s men in the race for his signature, with talks between the Gunners and Sampdoria ongoing.

Entailed in his contract with the Serie A side is a €25 million release clause; a more than affordable outlay for a club with Arsenal’s financial power.
Further reports from Italy also indicate that instead of paying the full extent of Torreira’s release clause up front, Arsenal would like to spread the cost through paying Sampdoria in installments.
It seems there is a reciprocated desire to push this deal over the line, with a move to Arsenal evidently of interest to Torreira and his agent this summer.
