Arsenal are apparently interested in recruiting promising Mainz midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin this summer.
According to reports from RMC Sport, as cited by GFFN, the youngster has emerged as a target for the Gunners this summer as they aim to bolster their defensive options.
Capable of playing in front of the back four and in central defence, Gbamin enjoyed a strong season with Mainz last term and caught the eye of many.
The 22-year-old is understood to be valued at a sum of €30 million by Bundesliga outfit Mainz and it comes as no surprise, given that he is one of their prized assets.

Gbamin is an established international for Ivory Coast but represented France at youth level.
It’s claimed in the report that Arsenal are not alone in their interest in the versatile player, with several unnamed Premier League sides also noted as potential suitors.
Preparations are well underway for the new season at the Emirates Stadium, with Unai Emery keen to add to his squad.
