Arsenal make approach to sign Uruguayan international
Arsenal have made contact with Sampdoria about Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to a report from Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio.
Torreira reportedly has a €25m release clause in his contract at Sampdoria and as such, he’s quickly become one of Europe’s most sought-after players.
According to the report, the whole €25m must be paid in one instalment in order to trigger the release clause, so Sampdoria are hoping that a club might be prepared to pay a bit extra in order to be able to pay in instalments.
Napoli are keen to sign the Uruguayan international and have reportedly agreed a fee with Sampdoria, but Torreira’s agents want to wait before agreeing to a move as they want to see which other clubs are interested.
The 22-year-old is part of Uruguay’s 23-man World Cup squad so unless a move can be completed in the next few days, Torreira might need to wait until after the summer tournament to decide where his future lies.
