Arsenal are in advanced negotiations over a deal to sign Caglar Soyuncu from Freiburg this summer, according to a report from Turkish-Football.
The Gunners have been chasing the young defender for some time now and it seems progress has been made in their pursuit to land the promising centre-back.
Soyuncu impressed for Freiburg last season and has established himself as a full international for the Turkish national team.
Turkish-Football quote Soyuncu’s agent confirming Arsenal’s interest, while also revealing that Sven Mislintat, the Gunners’ head of recruitment, wanted to land the player during his tenure at Borussia Dortmund previously.
Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund. He first scouted him back in Germany. Sven is interested in Caglar, there are concrete talks, all that remains is for a fee to be agreed. We will see what happens next.
Liverpool have also been linked with a swoop for Soyuncu but it seems Arsenal are leading the way in the race to recruit the exciting young central defender.
It seems that all Arsenal must do before they are able to confirm their recruitment of Soyuncu is to agree a fee with Freiburg, as the player remains keen on the switch to the Emirates.
