# Arsenal offer experienced right-back short-term contract

Arsenal have reportedly tabled a one-year contract offer to Juventus man Stephan Lichtsteiner.

The Gunners are closing in on their first signing of the summer transfer window this year, with 34-year-old Lichtsteiner expected to put pen to paper on a short-term deal at the Emirates, according to [Di Marzio](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/it/arsenal-quasi-fatta-per-lichtsteiner-i-dettagli).

Lichtsteiner sees his contract with Juventus expire at the end of June and it appears as though he will join Arsenal on a free transfer ahead of next season.

Unai Emery is keen to add experience to a vulnerable back-line in his first transfer window as Arsenal boss, with Lichtsteiner looking certain to arrive in the near future.

The right-back is set to come in and act as a deputy to Hector Bellerin, who had little backup throughout the course of last season.

Lichtsteiner will hope to have a deal concluded before he jets off to Russia for the World Cup, with the experienced full-back set to captain his Switzerland side in the tournament.
