Unai Emery planning to reunite with goalkeeper at Arsenal
Unai Emery reportedly wants to reunite with Sergio Rico at Arsenal this summer.
Rico is currently plying his trade in his homeland of Spain with Sevilla but could be set for a move away in the coming weeks, with Estadio Deportivo claiming that Arsenal are keen.
Emery was confirmed as the new Gunners boss earlier this week and if reports from Spain are to be believed, he wants to sign Rico for his new club.
Arsenal’s goalkeeping issues have been well documented for some time now, with both Petr Cech and David Ospina failing to convince throughout the 2017/18 season.
Rico, meanwhile, has been a consistent performer for Sevilla over the years and was a favourable option for Emery during his stint at the club.
The Gunners appear to be on the lookout for a new, reliable shot-stopper ahead of next season with Emery looking to bolster the club’s defensive structure after seasons of deficiencies at the back.
