Arsenal will face competition from Manchester United in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
According to reports in Germany, as cited by the MEN, the Red Devils have joined the race to sign the defender, who is a top target for Arsenal this summer.
Arsenal want to reinforce their defensive options and have identified Sokratis as the man to do that, with the Dortmund star understood to be near the top of the Gunners’ shortlist for the transfer window.

However, if they are to press ahead with their efforts to land the Greek international, it will not be without the opposition of Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho is likely to target defensive options this summer as he looks to bolster his centre-backs following a somewhat underwhelming season at Old Trafford.
Sokratis remains a key player for Dortmund but if reports are to be believed, a move to the Premier League appears to be the most likely outcome this summer. Arsenal will hope that they win the race and secure his services.
