Fact file: Everything you need to know about Unai Emery

Arsenal are set to appoint their new manager later this week, having interviewed a number of candidates for the job.

That man appears to be Unai Emery,  who left Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this season having not had his contract renewed.

For a long time, former Arsenal player and current coach at Manchester City, Mikel Arteta, was the front-runner, but he is believed to have dropped out of the race.

Arsene Wenger, of course, left the club following 22 years at the helm earlier this month, with his final trophy haul standing at three Premier Leagues, seven FA Cups and seven community shields.

It will be a tough ask to replicate the longevity of Wenger, but Emery will be expected to revitalise a club that has seemed to be at a standstill for a number of years.

Emery spent most of his playing career in Spain’s second division before retiring at 32 and moving into management.

This fact file will give you everything you need to know about Arsenal’s next boss, from his background to the trophies he’s won…

matchday.
