Incoming Arsenal boss Unai Emery is looking to build his team around midfielder Aaron Ramsey and forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as he looks to hit the ground running at the club, according to Sky Sports.
The Gunners pair had fine seasons respectively and the new manager has identified them as crucial players for the club moving forward.
Ramsey’s current Arsenal deal comes to an end next summer and the Gunners will be doing everything they can to tie the Welshman down to a new and improved contract.
Aubameyang has been sensational since his move from Borussia Dortmund in January and is set to play a vital role under Emery ahead of his appointment.
He netted ten goals for the club despite not playing his first match until February, settling into the league effectively.
Emery is close to being confirmed as Arsene Wenger’s successor after the club elected to turn down Mikel Arteta’s expected arrival at the club.
