Former Arsenal man Patrick Vieira looks likely to take the managerial role at OGC Nice after holding positive talks with the Ligue 1 club.
Sky Sports reported a few days ago that Arsenal had contacted their former midfielder and current New York City manager over potentially appointing him as Arsene Wenger’s successor, but Vieira was offended at being offered the role as what he calls a ‘token gesture’.
While Manchester City coach and former Gunners captain Mikel Arteta has since overtaken Vieira as the bookkeepers’ favourite to take the role at the Emirates, Vieira now looks close to removing himself from availability.

France Football claim that following a meeting between top flight French club Nice, Vieira could be set to return back to France.
Nantes and Rennes have been linked with moves for the former French international in the past, but the 107-cap midfielder had so far rebuffed advances from France.
However, the project at Nice and the lifestyle of the area are believed to have swayed him, with Vieira believing it is too good an opportunity to turn it down.
Vieira would replace Swiss coach Lucien Favre, who is Borussia Dortmund bound.
