Arsenal make contact with club legend amid links with management role

Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira has been contacted by the club amid reports linking him with the first-team management role, but it seems that he has been left disappointed with the outcome, according to Sky Sources.

Arsene Wenger left the Gunners at the end of the season and the former French midfielder was heavily linked with taking over. However, it now seems as though the club are exploring options elsewhere.

There are a number of top quality candidates in the running for the role and the club face a big decision, which they simply must get right.

The 41-year-old is currently the head coach at American side New York City FC, but it’s thought that he was open to coming back to England to manage the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta, another ex-Arsenal midfielder, appears to be the front-runner for the role at the Emirates.
