Arsenal set to sign record breaking Turkish defender

Altinordu president Seyit Mehmet Ozkan has claimed Arsenal are close to signing Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu during an event called ‘Economic Situation in Turkish Football’ according to Sport Witness.

During the event, Ozkan stated how the former Altinordu player could move to Arsenal saying:

Caglar Soyuncu is about to agree with Arsenal. Arsenal asked us for information about youth development.

Soyuncu has been at Bundesliga side Freiburg for two seasons. But with Freiburg in danger of relegation, the 21-year-old may be wanting to test himself at a bigger club.

When he made his national team debut for Turkey back in 2016, the Turkish defender was the first Aldinorcu player to make an appearance for the Turkish national side since 1938

Back in April, Altinordu manager, Huseyin said he expects the defender to sign for Manchester United or Manchester City, but it seems Arsenal may have taken the lead in the chase for the defender.

It is likely Arsenal will be looking to bring in new players this summer with many set to leave as well as manager Arsene Wenger.
