The Spanish international has put three goals past the Gunners in his last six appearances against them and will now look to extend this record on May 3rd when these two historic sides clash at the Wanda Metroplitano.
Costa fought his way through injury and returned against Alves last Sunday after witnessing the first leg of the draw from Atletico’s bench as the two sides shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw.
The Mirror claims that the former Chelsea striker has been seen training with the believed starting Atletico XI in the build up to the game.
Despite Costa’s lack of form this year, especially in La Liga, where he boasts a less than impressive three goals in 12 appearances, he looks set to get the nod in the seoncd leg of the semi-final
Frank Lampard has lauded the former Premier League star, claiming:
The English game has missed him this season after he re-joined Atletico from Chelsea. He is a big player, a big character. Love him or hate him, you have to appreciate that kind of player. That is why I fear for Arsenal on Thursday night in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final.
