Pep Guardiola wants to keep Mikel Arteta at Manchester City this summer, despite the Spaniard being linked with the Arsenal job.
The Mirror reports that Guardiola wants to keep the former Arsenal and Everton midfielder as a valued member of his coaching staff.
Guardiola was quick to praise the work of his assistant, citing him as one of the reasons behind City’s success this season.
My opinion about Mikel is overwhelming. He deserves the best. Hopefully we are so comfortable, not just me, working with him. One of the reasons for our success this season is because Mikel is here.
After it was confirmed that Arsene Wenger would step down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season, both Arteta and Patrick Vieira are two former players to be linked with the job.

Arteta is highly thought of by those behind the scenes at both City and Arsenal, with the Gunners keen to give him his first job in management.
The club’s former midfielder is widely expected to go into management at some stage of his career.
