Everton are confident of securing a deal to sign Jack Wilshere in the summer after his contract talks at Arsenal have stalled, football.london reports.

Wilshere’s current deal with Arsenal expires at the end of the season with the England ace yet to agree new terms with the club.

Having been at the club since he was a boy, it has always been expected that Arsenal and Wilshere would agree new terms, but with still no agreement between the two parties having been reached Wilshere could be set to leave the Emirates at the end of his current deal.

It’s reported that Wilshere would have to take a £20,000 a week basic pay cut to remain at the club and that they England star is unhappy with this, especially considering Mesut Ozil has just been handed a whopping new £350,000 a week deal.

Arsene Wenger spoke last month of his desire for Wilshere to remain at the club:

I can only reassure him that I want him to stay and we have made him a proposal and after that we also have to accept that Jack is at an age where he will have offers from somewhere else. Personally, I have put my weight in for him to stay, I push him to stay and I think he’s an Arsenal man

Everton are said to be willing to match Wilshere’s current wages and offer the player a large signing on fee.

Wilshere has fought his way back into the first team picture at Arsenal this season after a series of hampering injuries, making 34 appearances in all competitions.
