Arsenal are likely to sign a number of new defenders once the transfer window opens in June but they are set to miss out on the signature of highly-rates Spezia centre-back Gabriele Corbo.
German news outlet TZ claim that Bayern Munich have had the 18-year-old on a ‘secret trial’ since the beginning of March with a view to signing the Italy U18 international when his contract expires in the summer.
Impressed with how Corbo acquitted himself during his spell at the club, Bayern are working to finalise a deal to sign the centre-back when the summer transfer window opens in June, with a medical already completed and a five-year deal almost agreed.
Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb reported earlier this month that Arsenal were also keen on signing the teenager, while Juventus were also keen on bringing in the young defender, but Bayern are expected to complete the deal for a nominal fee of just £250,000.
The Gunners signed 20-year-old Greek centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos in January and also have Rob Holding on their books, so they’re pretty well stocked for young up and coming defenders despite missing out on Corbo.
