21-year-old Frenchman reveals his dream to sign for Arsenal, could replace Laurent Koscielny

Arsenal are expected to make a number of defensive additions in the summer and one centre-back has expressed his desire to one day wear the red and white of the Gunners.

Despite playing for Valenciennes Reserves, Pierre Barremaecker is still holding out hope to one day play for a top European club, such as Arsenal.

On the face of it, Barremaecker is a long way off fulfilling his dream, but he reveals that one of his idols as a player is Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny, who himself experienced a remarkably quick rise from a relative unknown at Tours to playing week in, week out at the Emirates in the space of two years, by way of Lorient.

Speaking to Nord-Eclair over the weekend, Barremaecker reveals he dreams of playing for Arsenal in the Premier League, following in the footsteps of Koscielny and Thierry Henry.

My models are Koscielny and Thiago Silva, for his leader mentality. Other than that, I dream of playing in the Premier League and to wear Arsenal’s shirt, because when I started to watch football, Vieira, Henry and Bergkamp were there.

If I could one day wear the France shirt, that would really be a magical moment in my career.

While it’s believed that Arsenal are not currently looking into signing the 21-year-old centre-back, Barremaecker can still dream of one day signing for the club.

As for Koscielny, the Frenchman has been linked with an exit from the club eight years after signing from Lorient, with Atletico Madrid said to be interested.
