Prior to kick-off, only the bravest among us would have backed an Arsenal win.
AC Milan were on form under manager Gennaro Gattuso, while the side from North London had lost their last four straight games. Looking shaky defensively, and with Aubameyang and Lacazette out, it was unclear how Arsenal could pull off any sort of result.
90 minutes later, Arsenal emerged 2-0 winners at the San Siro, thanks to goals from Mkhitaryan and Ramsey. From back to front, this was an efficient, fluid performance which looked a world apart from Arsenal’s recent away form in the Premier League. Special performances from Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan warranted the result in a hostile arena.
As such, Arsenal go into next Thursday’s second leg with the clear upper hand and should, by all means, be very proud of this performance.
