According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Toulouse defender Issa Diop.
Diop has been linked with the likes of Barcelona; their fierce rivals Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Tottenham, as well as Arsenal, and there’s no doubt as to why, as his class performances at the age of just 21 has earned him the captaincy at Toulouse.
Although many have been linked, the closest to signing the France U21 international defender are the North London rivals, Arsenal and Tottenham and both managers have been happy with the reports that they’ve received for Diop.
With Toby Alderweireld looking surprisingly more likely to head to the exit door at Tottenham after being left out of their squad against both Arsenal and Juventus, despite being fit, Spurs could bring in Diop as his replacement.
For Arsenal, they’ve been looking for squad depth in defence for a while, and with Per Mertesacker retiring in the summer they could do with another body at the heart of their defence.
