Arsenal put in another poor performance on the road as they were beaten 1-0 by North London rivals Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday.
Harry Kane’s second-half header proved to be enough for Tottenham, leading to another disappointing day for the Gunners as they lost even further ground on the top four.
The Gunners were without Aaron Ramsey for this one after he picked up an injury heading into the game, meaning he couldn’t build on his hat-trick from last weekend.
Arsene Wenger’s side struggled to really make much of an impact throughout the game ,registering just the one shot on target in the contest.
Alexandre Lacazette should have levelled it late on as he saw his effort go just wide of the post but Arsenal created very little and bar some good saves from Petr Cech and some poor Tottenham finishing, the scoreline could have been a lot worse.
The Gunners most realistic way into the Champions League now looks like being through winning the Europa League.
Here’s how we rated the Arsenal players on the day:
Petr Cech - 7
One of his side’s better performers on the day. Kept the Gunners in the match by making a host of great saves, although he had a few dodgy moments with the ball at his feet
Nacho Monreal - 5
Wasn’t quite his usual self today and struggled to make an impact down the left flank.
Hector Bellerin - 7
Was strong defensively and even put in some great work going forward throughout the game.
Skhodran Mustafi - 5
Was poor defensively on the day and even picked up a booking for his troubles on a tough afternoon.
Laurent Koscielny - 5
Was a poor performance from the Frenchman and got completely out jumped by Kane for the goal.
Granit Xhaka - 5
Another poor showing from the midfielder who has been disappointing in recent weeks.
Mohamed Elneny - 6
Got himself about in the midfield breaking down a number of Spurs attacks and can be relatively pleased with his performance.
Jack Wilshere - 6
Controlled the midfield well on his return to the team following an injury.
Mesut Ozil - 5
Had a quiet day overall and he struggled to create to much for his side in an attacking sense
Henrikh Mkhitaryan - 4
A tough day for the new signing and he struggled to get any kind of grip onto the game and was taken off just past the hour mark.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 5
Asked Spurs plenty of questions but didn’t have any clear chances to make an impact in front of goal.
Alex Iwobi- 4: Didn’t look composed when he came on as a centre midfielder. He struggled to make an impact and gave the ball away too often.
Alexandre Lacazette – 3: Was caught offside too often due to laxy play. Had a good chance on the volley that he hammered high and wide before missing a guilt-edged chance last on as his technique let him down
Danny Welbeck – 4 Wasn’t on for long. Might have had a good chance but he couldn’t control a well-weighted through-ball.
