# Wenger positive over Wilshere deal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that he is positive over a new contract for midfielder Jack Wilshere.

His current deal is set to expire at the end of the season with talks already underway to extend it.

Wenger says that he wants Wilshere to stay at the club beyond this season, with the midfielder having featured in 24 games for the club this term.

The Arsenal number ten has struggled with injuries throughout his career and was loaned out to Premier League side Bournemouth last season, where he was also hampered by knocks.

[Speaking to The Daily Mail,](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5369221/Arsene-Wenger-confident-Jack-Wilshere-sign-new-deal.html) Wenger said this:

> I’m positive because I want Jack to stay. I do the maximum I can to make him happy.

> With Jack it is now. With Aaron, if we lose two weeks or three weeks, it doesn’t matter much.

Arsenal recently tied down Mesut Ozil to a new three-and-a-half year contract, who was also heavily-linked with a move away from the club in the summer.
