Real Madrid have reportedly joined in the race to sign want away Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez, ready to fight Arsenal and Manchester City for the Algerian, according to Caught Offside.
However, it is believed that Real Madrid’s main targets still are Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi.
It was reported late on in the transfer window that Mahrez tried to force through a move to Premier League leaders Manchester City. However, this move didn’t happen and Mahrez stayed at the King Power Stadium.
However, he has not turned up for training for four days in the last week, as he is incredibly unhappy at the club for not allowing him to leave.
It is believed that the Foxes want £88m for Mahrez, but Real Madrid are confident they can get him below that price as Claude Puel will not want to sell him to a Premier League rival.
It is known that he would fit in well with the attack force at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema both out of form, while Gareth Bale is struggling to stay fit.
He was rumoured to be going to Arsenal, but since the additions of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, it is believed that the Gunners will not be needing him as much as was thought.
