Arsenal made a £12m offer for West Brom defender, and captain, Jonny Evans on deadline day.
According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal’s offer was half of West Brom’s valuation of Evans.
The report claims that West Brom were willing to do business, for the right price, to avoid losing Evans for £3m in the summer.
Evans has a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for £3m if West Brom are relegated to the Championship.

With The Baggies bottom of the Premier League, that may well become a reality now for Evans and West Brom.
Arsenal will then look to snap him up for the cut-price fee ahead of next season.
The 30-year-old has also been subject of interest from league leaders Manchester City.
Despite failing to land Evans on deadline day, Arsenal completed the club-record signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund for a fee in the region of £56m.
