# Sanchez leaves Arsenal hotel late Friday night

Alexis Sanchez left the Arsenal team hotel late on Friday night as he closes in on a switch to Old Trafford.

[The Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/907319/Alexis-Sanchez-says-goodbye-Arsenal-Man-Utd-Mkhitaryan-transfer-news-rumours-gossip) reports that the player was with his fellow Arsenal team-mates ahead of their game against Crystal Palace before receiving a late phone call regarding the deal.

There was an outside chance that the Chilean could be named on the bench against Palace, but now he is unlikely to be involved after he said his goodbyes to the rest of the Arsenal squad.

Manchester United have been favourites to sign Sanchez for a few days, but the deal has been held up by a move that will see Henrikh Mkhitaryan move in the opposite direction.

It’s yet to be seen whether or not the deal is a straight swap or if they’ll be done as two separate transfers.

The Gunners have been linked to both Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a bid to replace the former Barcelona winger.
