# Arsenal expected to miss out on Malcom to Spurs

Tottenham have been installed as the new favourites to sign Brazilian winger Malcom, stealing the march on Arsenal.

[The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/01/19/tottenham-favourites-sign-brazilian-star-malcom-bordeaux-35m/) reports that Spurs are closing in on a £35.5 million move for the player, who will join them in the summer.

Malcom has been one of the breakthrough stars in Ligue 1, where he will remain on loan until the end of the season.

The player’s representatives have been in London in recent weeks to discuss a move, despite originally looking like he was set to join Arsenal.

The Gunners are preparing to lose Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United and Malcom had been earmarked as a long-term replacement.

Arsenal are now set to focus their effects on completing deals for both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The report suggests that Spurs could eventually pay over £40 million for the player’s signature through add-ons.

Malcom has scored seven times in Ligue 1 this season, despite Bordeaux languishing just below mid-table.
