# Sanchez has already been offered a shirt number at United

Manchester United have reportedly already offered Alexis Sanchez a shirt number at Old Trafford as they close in on a deal for the Chilean.

Chilean newspaper [El Mercurio](https://www.emol.com/noticias/Deportes/2018/01/15/891233/La-irresistible-oferta-del-United-de-Mourinho-a-Alexis-Ser-el-mejor-pagado-de-la-Premier-League.html), claim that the former Barcelona winger has been told he can wear the number seven shirt at Old Trafford if he makes the switch this month.

The attacker currently wears the number seven shirt at Arsenal, but the number was previously worn by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo at United.

Sanchez looked set to join Manchester City and Pep Guardiola in January with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

United made a late move to the sign the player and now look likely to outmuscle the Premier League leaders financially.

It has been reported that United are willing to pay somewhere in the region of £35 million for the player.

Sanchez will reportedly pocket around £400,000 a week at Old Trafford, wages that City were not willing to match.

Chelsea have been linked with a late move but United remain favourites to sign the player.
