Manchester City pull out of race to sign Alexis Sanchez

Manchester City have pulled out of the race to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, according to a report from the Manchester Evening News.

The Cityzens are said to have withdrawn their interest based on Sanchez’s reportedly inflated wage demands, along with Arsenal’s apparent valuation of the Chilean. The Gunners are claimed to be looking to recoup £35m from his sale, with City only looking to splash £20m on Sanchez this month.

Manchester United are now the clear front-runners in the race to secure the former Barcelona man’s services, but a new competitor for his signature appears to have emerged. The report from the MEN states that Chelsea have made a last ditch bid to acquire Sanchez.

The talismanic forward’s contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the season and with him looking unlikely to extend his stay at Arsenal, the club want to receive a considerable sum of money in the ongoing transfer window.
