The Gunners had been linked with a move for the youngster for a short while and they have now confirmed that a deal has been struck, with the defender joining up with the club.
Mavropanos impressed during his time at PAS Giannina and earned two caps for Greece’s Under-21 side. It seems his displays have caught the eye of Arsenal’s scouting team, and perhaps new chief scout Sven Mislintat.
Arsenal are thought to have spent £1.9m on the young defender, who will hope to continue his recent development with the club.
The 20-year-old is likely to only be regarded as one for the future by Arsenal but the first-team’s defensive depth has left a lot to be desired so far this season, with injuries hitting the club’s centre-backs.
Mavropanos could be sent out on loan in order to ensure that he gains first-team experience elsewhere.
