Arsenal have been boosted in their hopes of signing Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi as Everton look set to drop their interest in the player.
The Daily Star report that Everton boss Sam Allardyce wants to focus his transfer business on other areas of his squad.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with the player for some time as they go in search of a more defensively-minded midfielder.
N’Zonzi has already expressed his desire to leave Sevilla after falling out of favour under their previous manager Eduardo Berizzo.
It is yet to be seen whether new manager Vincenzo Montella has a place for the French midfielder in his plans.
Everton had been linked with a move for the ever since Allardyce took charge of the club.
Allardyce worked with the player during his time at Blackburn and even tried to bring him into the England set-up while he was in charge of the Three Lions.
