Barcelona have made Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil their number one target for the upcoming January window as they look to bolster their squad, according to Marca, cited by the Express.
Ozil has been in fine form for the Gunners over the past few months, which has impressed Barcelona chiefs, who now look set to do everything they can to take the German away from the Emirates in January.
The Gunners have still yet to tie the midfielder down to a new deal to keep him in London, with his current contract due to expire in the summer.
Barca, who will be able to talk to Ozil in January over the possibility of joining in the summer, want to talk to Arsenal instead, about potentially bringing the player to the Nou Camp immediately.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has regularly stated that Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will not be leaving in the January window, however, with the Spanish giants rumoured to be extremely keen on Ozil, they may face having to turn down multiple offers for their star midfielder in order for him to remain a Gunner at the beginning of February.
