# Arsenal could make move for Barcelona starlet in January

Arsenal are interested in signing Barcelona starlet José Arnaiz as early as January, [according to Marca](https://www.marca.com/en/football/barcelona/2017/12/21/5a3bb1d946163f422a8b45e1.html).

Having caught the eye for Barcelona in this season’s Copa del Rey, the Catalans may be set to lose talented young forward Arnaiz, with Arsenal reportedly preparing to match the Spaniard’s release clause.

Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy is known for producing a number of worldwide recognised players with extraordinary talent, but it has proved difficult to accommodate the latest crop as of late.

Due to this, a large number of talented players have exited the club en masse, including Jordi Mboula, Eric Garcia and coach Gabri, with opportunities to step up into the senior game elsewhere more easy to come by.

Although not a La Masia graduate, Arnaiz could be the next talented youngster to depart the Nou Camp, as early as the January window.

Arriving from Valladolid in the summer for €3.4million, Arnaiz has attracted a great deal of interest from North London, with Marca learning that Arsene Wenger could even proceed with an offer for his services in January.

Despite being the top scorer with Barcelona B this season with six goals, the 22-year old winger has only been offered first-team game time in the cup, with Carles Aleña the sole academy player to be brought into the first-team for any extended period of time.

While Arnaiz is thought to be content with his current prospects in Catalonia, Arsenal showing that they desire his services could turn his head.
