# Wenger says Giroud’s future is in Arsenal’s hands

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that the future of Olivier Giroud is in the club’s hands, and not the player’s.

Giroud has been linked with a move away from the club in January, as he reportedly looks for more regular game-time.

However, Wenger says that Giroud is an important member of the Arsenal squad and that he wants him to stay.

[Speaking to The Mirror,](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/olivier-giroud-told-not-leaving-11672007) Wenger said this:

> Is it up to him or up to us? It’s up to us. It’s a remarkable achievement what he has done again today.

> I consider Olivier Giroud as a regular player. We have to be grateful that he is part of a great team and one who can come on and make a difference with the right attitude and ability. He is a talent.

Giroud is yet to start a Premier League game for Arsenal this season, with 13 appearances as a substitute.

The forward came off the bench to score a crucial equaliser away at Southampton on Sunday to secure a point – his eighth of the season.

The French international has scored four goals off the bench in the Premier League this season, with Alexandre Lacazette preferred by Wenger.
