Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has confirmed that he has suffered a further setback to his return to football after undergoing more surgery to his ongoing injured ankle, Sky Sports report.
The 32-year-old suffered the injury in the Gunners’ Champions League win over Ludogorets last October and hasn’t returned to the first team fold since.
The Spanish international has had to undergo eight separate surgeries to the same ankle since 2013, and manager Arsene Wenger left the playmaker out of his 25-man Premier League squad this season.

Carzola, who has been an Arsenal player for over five years, recently confirmed that he had lost eight centimetres of his Achilles tendon as a result of the surgeries, and feared he may lose his foot after suffering an infection earlier this month.
Wenger described Cazorla’s injury as the worst he had seen during his time as a manager, however, the plyer recently tweeted that he still has the motivation and the hope of being able to return.
