Mesut Ozil will miss Arsenal’s midweek game against Huddersfield Town, manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
As quoted by Goal, the Frenchman explained why Ozil didn’t feature in Arsenal’s 1-0 win away at Burnley on Sunday.
Ozil did travel up to Lancashire with participating in the game on his mind but an illness of some kind appears to have restricted him and has subsequently ruled him out of the game against the Terriers on Wednesday evening.
I don’t know [what the illness is], I haven’t seen him. The doctor came to see me and said he had to travel back home. He was in the hotel with us.

Arsenal didn’t miss Ozil too much at Turf Moor, though, as they came away with an incredibly important victory over Sean Dyche’s side. A late penalty from Alexis Sanchez was enough to seal all three points against the Clarets, who came away from the match feeling hard done by.
Certainly he will be short for Wednesday. We will see what it is exactly.
Wenger used Alex Iwobi as an alternative to Ozil but the Nigerian international failed to really take his chance. Jack Wilshere has been impressive of late, though, and could be rewarded with a chance against Huddersfield.
